So this post is supposed to be about our 2 day adventure back to OKC from Scottsbluff. Maybe I will take the time to document it another time, but right now I will give you the pictures from the trip.
Po'okela & Alohi got to ride side by side (mainly because in order to ride rear facing Po'okela's seat needs to be in the middle and Hoku had the spot by the door). She always took his toys, which lead to Po'okela crying and then we took the toy away from here which then cause both of them to be crying (FUN TIMES!). But they did have sweet moments like this... Holding hands. I think this was after they got up from naps on day two.
We stopped at a really nice truck stop, that had a wonderful area for Alohi to run as well as our four legged friend. Rylan took the time to clean the windows and the kids got to explore being in the front of the car. Po'okela's favorite thing was to watch the big trucks drive by. Hoku was playing in the field until the trucks driving by honked their horns.
Next Alohi got to practice her driving skills with dad.
Po'okela played with buttons on my lap.
There were times (very few times) when Alohi got the iPad to entertain her. She actually only had it for an hour the first day. Day 2 was a completely different story. She enjoyed watching her movies and playing her games.
Po'okela's special treat was being able to chew on pretzel sticks (the giant kind). He cut his first tooth the weekend we left and the second one was coming up right behind the first. For the most part he was such a good traveler!
However, when he was out of the car he wanted to be rolling around, wiggling in arms or crying to be held. Here he is on the hotel bed, getting ready for day two of traveling.
We crossed the OK boarder and made our first stop at braums. We miss braums so much! I let Alohi eat a ice cream cone and french fries for lunch! She was so happy!!
Things I will remember to do for our trip back....
1- Have a variety of toys the kids can interchange. Alohi liked to steal Po'okela's toys, but he couldn't have hers because they would have ended up in his mouth (not safe).
2- Long day needs to be day 1, like we did coming down. Made day two easier and their is always things you forget about that you need more time for.
3- Drive more to help Rylan rest. He had to wake up at 5:30 the next day we go in to start school and I felt bad, when I got to rest with the kids at home.
4- Ice cream can make any situation better, so eat it for a meal!
I know there is so much more I could share and lots of back blogging to get caught up on, but until then... Oklahoma it feels like we never left!
I love the pic of them holding hands! I'm so impressed with your traveling skills. I'll definitely be praying when time comes for the trip back, but until then so glad you're here!
