2 Blogs in 1 Day... WHAT?!?!

So much fun as a family... Especially when the weather is so nice out!

Running and playing outside after library time.

I can't get enough of this cheesy face!

You can not NOT smile when you see this!

Soon to be the the routine family outing. Dad riding and pulling kids while I run or dad running while I ride and pull kids.  I can't wait for more fun like these!!

Locks of Love

Well I have been growing my hair out since after we had Alohi.  Actually I wasn't purposefully growing my hair out, it just helped with the budget ($40 a cut) and trying to make time to get my hair done with working and wanting to be mom.  So I just never went. I did however go right before I had Po'okela with a friend (Gina) because she said I could use a pick me up with the 100+ degree weather and to feel girlie. I loved what the girl did with my hair and went back after Po'okela was born.  However, everyone knows we moved and things got crazy. While in OKC for Rylan's training last summer I got it cut again, but hadn't done anything to it.  So in Hawaii (where long locks are such a cultural thing), my mom asked me when I was going to do something different with my hair because it was getting too long.  That's where I got the idea to cut it for lock for love and donate my hair.

Now if you know anything about me I do pretty well with change... kind of... okay I have to warm up to it.  After asking around and taking Alohi for a trim and something for her hair, I found out that Great Clips will give you a free hair cut if you donate it and do all the work to send your hair in for you.  FREE!! and they pay the postage! Well I was on board, but working up the courage to actually do it was a whole other story.

Thankfully last Sunday, I woke up to my crazy mane and I was done. I didn't want it in a bun or dry it or braid it... it was just too much hair.  So I talked with a few friends from church to find out that one of the members actually works at Great Clips.  As after lunch at home, I told Rylan I needed to get my hair done (only if Alisa was working). I called and she was there... I went because I knew the next day I would lose the courage to actually cut it.

My heart was pounding and I almost turned around to go home... but... Here is is.

Here's the best picture I have of my long hair before it was cut.

11 inches measured out to cut... I could have donated 14 if I was ready for a short bob hair, but I wanted it a bit longer than that.

After it was done... she cut about 13 inches total.

My locks going for someone special that I will never know... Then learned that I could sell my hair for HUGE amounts of $$ because of my "virgin" (never dyed, all natural hair) hair and its natural coloring and health... I may need to look into this more, but I know it went to someone who would truly appreciate it!

And I love my short hair... its taken about 3-4 years to grow it out... but it was fun!

Home and my hair completely dried.

Wet and sassy hair...

I haven't done much playing with it... I know I can straighten it and give myself a whole new style and have fun. So far I like the way is air dries, which is perfect for the summer.  And don't worry, Rylan likes it. He said I look good with short style or long, he just wishes it didn't take so long to grow out.

Questions: Would I do this again.... YES!

New Things

There is always so much things happening in our home. Here are just a few of the new things.

Po'okela loves to help load and unload the dishwasher. I normally hand wash stuff, but it just gets too cold, and now I have a helper.

Po'okela is in the process of transitioning to using a big boy cup. We still use sippy cups while we are on the go, but for the most part we have now using big kid cups (thanks to restaurants for the huge supply and I don't care if it gets dropped). There are spills, but most of them come from Alohi.

Snow in April... why yes in Nebraska you can get snow anytime. To pass the cold weather we started playing in the "sensory bin" a.k.a. rice bin. The kids loved it! Now to get Rylan to build me a table to put bin in, so the rice stays inside of it rather than on the floor.

After the rice bin fun, I put Alohi to work cleaning up the mess. She thinks it fun now, just wait until she gets older and vacuuming isn't so much fun.

Alohi is also working on her chopstick skills. As long as she has her helpers up at the top, she is good to go!

See how proud she is getting the noodles in the spoon. My Japanese baby sitter would be so proud!!

New toys are always fun... well it isn't new, just been put away.

List of the last 4 1/2 weeks

We have had a busy last month. The kids and I have been to 9 states during our travels and did most of the road time alone, while Rylan did his work travel. It was fun and the kids did such a great job in the car.  Here is a list of happenings:

-Stop 1:Visit with Joey & Charter's family. Along with a trip to urgent care for pink eye (both kids).
-Stop 2: Kansas City fun at: Monkey Business, Children's Museum, Herken's Visit
-Stop 3: OKC-- Zoo (but I don't think I took any pictures), bouncy place, birthday parties (Annee & Elle), science museum, Memaw & Pepaw's, and who knows what else.
Return home and a nearly 13-14 hour day for me and the kids in the car from OKC to Scottsbluff. An all day travel. I think I was more tired than the kids.
-Stop 4: OHIO and all the travels we did to get there. Wedding fun, build a bear and date nights! Yes, NIGHTS! A
Along with another fun way to get home.... Snow, Blizzard and not getting home.

So that's just the short version. I know some of you were apart of it and we miss you guys already.  Here's a few shots of just the travel fun:

The kids had a nice set up of entertainment... along with toys, books, singing songs and playing eye spy (Alohi and I played this, while Po'o pointed to trucks.)

Traveling on the road leads to lots of sleeping....
 Hoku probably slept the most...
Yes that is food in hand....

Falling asleep in other any car/truck works...

Sleeping at the same time was the best!

And Air travels... So glad Rylan was with me on this one. I have officially decided I do not FLY well.

The last picture of kids in the car... we are done being in the car, me more so than them.
