Sister to the rescue....

Last week after Po'okela's 1 year check up appointment, we stopped at chickfila for a late breakfast and play time.  It was something Alohi and I did a lot of while I was preggo with Po'o during that HOT HOT summer.  If you have never been to chickfila in the mornings I highly recommend it! There are no crowds, its quiet and your kids will have the play place to themselves!

Alohi had a great time, but she did say "she wish she invited a friend." (sorry next time because it wasn't a planned trip).  She had fun and Po'o figured out how to climb!

He followed his sister into the tube....

Then she helped him climb down and then took him down the slide.... he was not happy about the slide or sister trying to carry him. They are only 10 lbs difference.

I love how she is so willing to help him and was excited to get him up on the big kid toys!

And you might be wondering how these pictures were taken.... yes I climbed up there too to make sure things went ok and to get these pictures that I will have forever! And another reason to go to chickfila in the morning. You can climb up to rescue your kids or take pictures!

Happy Birthday Po'okela - 12 Months

I can't believe we have already reach 364 days mark of Po'okela begin with us. I figured I should start when this all happened.... A year ago today I was supposed to be having an Open House for the 2011-2012 school year and instead I walked into the hospital at 7 in the morning to be induced.  Wasn't really my plan, but the doctor was afraid I would have a baby in my classroom (which could have very much nearly happened with Alohi, had my assistant principal not sent me to the hospital).  School would have started on his due date of August 24th, but Doctor decided it would be best to induce me. Especially since you were measuring on the larger size.  Here I am right before the induction started.

These our first moments together.  You screamed at first then calmed down when you heard your daddy talk to you.  Then you and I snuggled for nearly an hour and then nursed.

Your sister got to stay up late to come visit you! She was so excited! Also, this is the only family picture we have and I am not in it. But I love the smiles on your daddy and sisters face!

The next day we got moved to a quieter room and our photographer Jeff Moore came to get your first professional photo.  You are so handsome!

There is so much you are learning each day.  You feed yourself with your hands easily and we are working on using a fork/spoon.  Using a cup is not a problem for you and you do like to drink from straws (something I don't think your sister figured out how to do that until 16-18 months).  You loved to eat and sign eat or say "mumm mumm" when it is meal time.  There aren't very many foods you don't like.  The only time you snub something is if you are too tired to eat or would rather have something you can see.  You point and sign please when you see something in the grocery store that you want to eat.  I still think your favorite thing to eat is blueberries and strawberries or any type of fresh fruit.  You are still nursing 4 times a day and drink juice or breast milk from a sippy cup sometime throughout the day. I know you are showing signs of wanting to wean, but we will start that process when we return to Scottsbluff.

You are on the move!! You crawl everywhere and can pull up on anything.  There hasn't been any walking yet, but you do walk while holding on to hands.  Your favorite toys are things that move, keys,  car toys and balls.  Cow or Moo is still your lovely and at naps/bedtime he is a must with you.  You do call him "moo." While crawling around you like to put things in your mouth to carry them to your next location, sometimes you try crawling with it in your hands but then put it in your mouth.  You crawl after your sister when she is doing something  you are interested in and the both of you just laugh during the chase.

While at the apartment we have been going on adventures. This means your sister rides around on her tricycle and I push you in your stroller.  We walk around the apartment complex. The pool is a normal stop on the route.  You love the water, but don't like to be in it with your dad.  I think your a mama's boy!  On our adventures you point to the birds and airplanes you hear/see and wave to anyone and everyone that goes by.

My favorite moments with you are first thing in the morning while you nurse.  When you are done you crawl around the bed laughing and calling for your sister.  This morning was the best when you crawled over and give me a open mouth kiss, which turned into 3 kisses.  I think those are the moments I will never forget.

I sure I can think of so many more things to type about, but I think pictures are the best.  I started out looking for a picture for each month, but then it turned into all of the favorites.  Here is just a glimpse of what your last 364 days were like!

Remember how crazy his hair was!!

And here you are this morning.... I love you sweet boy and I know we will have many many more happy days, months and years together!
