Scottsbluff Pumpkin Patch

I have labeled this Scottsbluff Pumpkin Patch because it is nothing like the Oklahoma pumpkin patches I have been to (you will soon see why).  First I will start with how Oklahoma pumpkin patches are. For example, you pay your admission and then you have a bunch of activities kids can do. Petting animals, hay bell slides, hay rides, hay maze, etc. and then lastly you pick your pumpkin out. These pumpkins sometimes are placed in a field so you get the feel of "picking" a pumpkin or they are lined up nicely for your selecting.  Now these are just at the two different places we have been and I am sure they all vary.  However... This is the Pumpkin Patch we went to here in Scottsbluff.

Pumpkin Patch

Little did I know as we loaded the church vans up... Here's the kids seating arrangements.  Alohi was so excited to be riding in the "bus" as she called it, even though it was a van.  She road in the back and got to ride in a big girl booster seat and Po'okela road up from in his infant carrier.  (I didn't want to unload/detach carseats from the car, so I pulled out the ones that weren't being used. Po'okela looked HUGE in his infant seat, but thankfully he fit.)

I knew we were headed to a pumpkin patch, but I didn't know that it was a church members neighbors patch.  We showed up at their house and then followed them down a dirt road... then pulled along side this site.

First of all it was a REAL pumpkin patch!!! Without all the gimmicks. The kids would get to experience what it would be like to pick a pumpkin off the vine would be like.  Well at least, I got to experience it for the first time. Alohi had a blast running up and down with her friends! Po'okela explored a little. He wasn't too sure about things.

I believe those are the two pumpkins we brought home... and one extra for me to say I got to pick one.
This was the best picture I got of the two of them together... and if you closely, you can see others picking out their pumpkins.

After about 30 minutes running and searching through the pumpkin patch, we headed back to the church members home (THANKFULLY because Alohi needed to go potty).  They had hot cocoa, juice jugs, pumpkin cookies, a cheese crackers.  The kids loved it! We got to see a gaggle of turkeys! When I say gaggle, I mean a gaggle! There were so many turkeys!! I have never seen that many LIVE turkeys ever (normally I see that many frozen and awaiting to be taken home from a shopper for Thanksgiving dinner). Well you get the point and the kids had a great time trying to get as close as possible, which wasn't that close because of the noise they were making.

Before leaving, Alohi got to try out the tire swing!

We had such a great time!! I am so thankful for the members who opened up their pumpkin patch to come out! Most of all the Children's Minister for arranging everything!  Plus, all of this was FREE!! This was a fun experience!!!

Update: Here is a group picture of all of us that went!

And our friends Autumn & Brady.  We are so blessed by their family!
