Saturday morning we had planned on going to a Farm Museum for a family day. They were going to have a corn maze (which advertised that it would be harder than the last), a hay stack with $100 in it, pumpkin activities, art projects, games and food. It would have cost $3 for our family to do all the activities. When I woke up and saw how much snow was falling, I put it in my mind that we should just stay in. Rylan being from Ohio and used to snow, said no we were going. We bundled up and headed out. When we got to the Farm, we found out that admission was now free due to the weather! Activities were moved inside and we still could go through the corn maze.
We walked to the corn maze... but decided not to go through it because of the mud and the weather. Here's our picture outside and the corn maze is behind us... can't really see it with the snow falling.
Thankfully they moved as many of the activities inside! We spent nearly 3 hours here doing the following- Making rope, seed/bean art, painting pumpkins and playing different games they had set up. Also, they had lunch there. $3 for a hot dog, beans, chips and a drink! I skipped lunch to have a slice of homemade key lime pie. Here are a few shots of the morning.
When we walked out to our car, the long horns were making their way in from the weather. Plus, there was fresh hay for them. This gal or guy walked up to us in hopes for something I guess. I am not sure who was more excited... the kids or Rylan.
By early even it warmed up and most of the snow was melted off. We spent the evening at church. Enjoying a Harvest of Talents, which 100% of the money goes towards the different missions our church supports. The kids slept through the around the world activities, but we made it there for the silent auction, pie auction and dinner. I made a custard pie, which sold for $40. Rylan bid on it and went up to $25 before he stop. While I was talking with a friend, I later found out that Rylan had gotten a won a blue berry pie.... costing $40. Thankfully we knew all the $$ went to missions and I was okay with the purchase. The raspberry cream pie went for $150!! Yep! There were a total of 30 pies and I think they made well over $1000 for missions. It was a neat experience and a wonderful idea for getting $$ for missions.
Sunday morning we woke up to a much warmer, but still cold weather. The forecast called for highs in the 50s. Compared to the 20s-30s the day before along with the snow. While eating breakfast Rylan noticed that our front tree was dropping leaves like crazy. We left for church not thinking anything of it. However, when we got home 85% of the leaves from the tree were on the ground. It was CRAZY! We were gone maybe 2-3 hours and the tree dumped off majority of its leaves. Alohi was so excited to see the leaves on the ground! We have been reading books about fall and one of them was an Arthur book about how he had to sweep up all the leaves, but would play in them as well. While Ry was laying her down for her nap, she told him that when she woke up, she was going to go outside to rake up the leaves and then kick them all over the place. And when she woke up... Ry took the kids outside to play and give me some quiet time.

I think they were out there for about an hour. After the sticker thorn incident with brother he road around on his little push car, while Alohi and Ry worked on the leaves. We still have two huge piles of leaves waiting to get put into our pumpkin sack for the front yard.
We got to experience winter and fall all in one weekend!! However we had a great time and it was full of fun! Even with the crazy weather!
